tom robbins' pajamas

great quotes from the book i just read;

"But if we're created in God's image, how come the human fetus is so much like a fish or a frog? Did Martin Luther address that question? When he wasn't busy addressing the question of how many bowling pins the Lord intended? If there's no such thing as evolution. how come we have tails and gills when we're embryos, and why don't I have any now?"

"For several minutes, neither of you speaks. Your mind races nervously over your list of remaining options like the fingers of a blind espresso drinker reading the Braille menu in a coffee bar."

"What you mean conquer? What you mean, destroy? Western medicine all a time think in terms of destruction. In West, person get virus, he wish kill it. Get tumor, wish fire magic bullet at it. Not a healing but a gunfight. My method not warfare. My method is pacify. Make friend with tumor. Friendship with cancer. Change friend's, diet, teach friend good manners."

"Guru's and philosophers might as well give up, apparently all it takes to send human beings into ecstatic bliss is the right combination of sugar, carbonated water, caramel coloring, phosphoric acid, potassium benzoate, caffeine, citric acid, and natural flavorings."

This is just what I dog eared while reading the book, but there are a ton of great parts and peices. Oh, and the book is great too, no matter how many loose ends he leaves.

Read it: Half Asleep in Frog Pajamas.
